MagicTree Documentation: Sample Report Templates

Report Generation Explained | Table of Contents | Microsoft Word Reporting Notes >

MagicTree ships with several sample report templates. You can use them as is, modify them to your liking, use portions of them in your own report templates, or just look at them to get some ideas.

The sample report templates are located in "report-templates" directory under mtdir

Currently we provide the following sample templates:

OpenOffice Templates:

  • base.odt - Does not contain anything, just page layout

  • open-ports-and-summary-of-findings-by-host.odt - Lists all hosts, discovered ports and services, and vulnerability scanner findings, grouped per host

  • simple-test-log.odt - Lists all executed commands with start and end timestamp and brief screen log

  • summary-of-findings-with-details.odt - Lists Nessus findings grouped together (so that same vulnerability is listed only once), with a table listing plugin output for each affected host

  • summary-of-findings-cross-referenced.odt - A report template with three sections, first containing the grouped findings, second containing the results per host, and third containing the executed commands with screen log. All three sections are cross-refernced to each other, so that findings reference hosts, and visa versa, and hosts refer to commands executed for that host

Microsoft Word Templates

  • summary-of-findings-cross-referenced.docx - A report template with three sections, first containing the grouped findings, second containing the results per host, and third containing the executed commands with screen log. All three sections are cross-refernced to each other, so that findings reference hosts, and visa versa, and hosts refer to commands executed for that host
